An Otolaryngologist is more commonly known as an Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist or ENT. This type of physician is trained to treat medical and surgical conditions of the ears, nose, and throat, and related structures of the head and neck. Dr. Martini is further trained and board certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. • What ages of patients are treated at the practice?

We treat children and adults of all ages at the practice. Sometimes special staff or equipment is needed to accommodate young children. Please be sure to indicate the age of the child when scheduling an appointment and make certain that the parent or legal guardian is available to accompany the child. Children can not be examined or treated if parent or legal guardian is not present.

• If surgery is recommended where is surgery performed?

Dr. Martini performs all inpatient procedures and many outpatient procedures at Union Hospital of Cecil County. Dr. Martini also performs outpatient surgery at the Glasgow Medical Center in Newark, DE. Selection of the facility depends upon patient preference, available scheduling time, surgical procedure, equipment needed, insurance coverage and age of patient. Questions and facility preferences can be discussed with the surgery coordinator.

• Will you accept my insurance?

Insurance plans are extremely complicated these days. We accept most major insurance plans which are listed in the insurance tab. It is always best to check with your insurer for plan specifics. Most medical visits and surgery are covered procedures, but may require referrals from your primary care physician for specialty care. Certain procedures such as hearing aids and allergy testing and shots are plan specific.

• What should I expect on my first visit or consultation?

You will need to complete the practice paperwork two business days prior to your scheduled appointment including your medical and surgical history to be reviewed by the staff and physician. The forms can be downloaded form the website and faxed or hand delivered to the office. On the day of your visit the information and your reason for the visit are reviewed with you and additional information obtained if necessary. A physical exam and or diagnostic procedure are performed by the physician if needed. The physician makes a diagnosis and recommends a treatment plan. You will be given an opportunity to ask questions or request additional information. If prescriptions are needed they are faxed to your pharmacy. Instructions and orders are printed for any required testing. A follow up appointment is made if necessary.
